For serving lunch boxes PAL says sorry to passengers

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines on Wednesday issued an apology to its passengers who had to eat in lunch boxes on board recent flights. In messages on its Twitter account, PAL said protesters blocked its In-Flight Center and hampered its catering service. "Sorry about this. Our catering service was severely hampered by protesters blockading our Inflight Center that houses our kitchen," it said. "PAL can not gain entry and are deprived usage of the facility. For food safety, we have temporarily switched to meal boxes," it said. At least one passenger complained that they had to eat out of meal boxes.

On Oct. 1, PAL outsourced three of its non-core businesses but members of its ground crew union had been barricading the I-Flight Center in protest of the move. — VS, GMA News
