Abandoned baggage causes tension at NAIA-1

An abandoned pushcart with boxes and bags caused tension for several minutes at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 early Thursday. Bomb experts from the Aviation Security Group's Special Operation Unit were summoned to the area to check the items, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. The pushcart contained two boxes, one traveling bag and a bag with yellow string, all with indications they belonged to a traveler from Marawi City. However, an inspection of the baggage yielded no explosives inside, the report said. "Nag-negative naman sa aso (Our K-9 units did not detect any bomb or explosive)," said a member of the special operation unit. On the other hand, the report said the authorities failed to reach the owner of the bags via the contact numbers indicated in the tags. — LBG, GMA News.
