Mr. Clean grows mustache for cancer awareness

After going without any facial hair for more than 50 years, the mascot of a cleaning solution is growing a moustache for "Movember" in a bid to help fight cancer. On his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/mrclean), Mr. Clean said he has made a "Moustache-O'-Meter," with his moustache getting better with more “Likes" to his Facebook and Movember pages. "To help promote the whole Movember thing, I’ve made the Mr. Clean Moustache-O'-Meter - the more 'Likes' this Facebook page and my Movember page get, the better my moustache becomes. So tell your friends to “Like" me if they like me.," he said. As of 6:30 p.m. Thursday (Manila time), over 170,000 people have "liked" the Facebook page. In a separate post on his Movember age, Mr. Clean said he would make an exception in his hair-free 50 years of existence for such "an important cause." "I've gone over 50 years without facial hair of any kind. Even the 70's couldn't make me grow a moustache. But for an important cause like this, I'm gonna grow the greatest mo' ever illustrated," he said. But so far, Mr. Clean has only gotten $25 in pledges in his Movember site. A separate article on tech site Mashable said the Movember initiative supports funding for prostate cancer. It said the Venice, Calif.-based Movember Foundation has run a mustache-growing initiative since 2004 to raise awareness and funding for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer and depression. — TJD, GMA News
