PAGASA: Expect occasional warm weather despite amihan's entry

Despite the entry of the amihan (northeast monsoon), Filipinos may still have to expect warm weather at some parts of the day. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said this is because the northeast monsoon has not fully settled in yet. "We can expect the weather to get warm at certain times of the day. The amihan is not yet stable at this time, it's not yet full-blown," PAGASA forecaster Jun Galang said in an interview on dzBB radio. For now, he said Metro Manila's temperature ranges 24 and 30 degrees Celsius, relatively lower than in past weeks. Galang, however, did not say when the amihan – whose cool winds are an indication that Christmas is fast approaching – will fully settle in. The northeast monsoon had been cited for the cool weather in the last few days. However, it and the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) were also cited by engineers for rain in Northern Luzon that prompted Magat Dam to release excess water. — LBG, GMA News
