Consulate General in Hong Kong closed Nov. 7

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong will be closed on Monday, November 7, in observance of Eid'l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice). In an announcement posted on its website late Thursday, the Consulate General said those with appointments for Nov. 7 may call the passport and contract sections. "For inquiries regarding appointments for consular services already set for that day, please call 28238535 (Passport Section) and 28238558 (Contract Section)," it said. The closure is pursuant to Proclamation No. 276 issued by Malacañang last Oct. 20. Under Republic Act No. 9849, Eid'l Adha should be celebrated as a regular holiday. Eid'l Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam, President Benigno Simeon Aquino noted in his proclamation. He also noted the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) recommended that the observance of Eid'l Adha be on November 7, and the Eid'l Adha prayer on November 6. - GMA News
