Charice's father buried in Cabuyao, Laguna

Nearly a week after he was stabbed dead, the father of international singing sensation Charice Pempengco was laid to rest in Laguna province Saturday afternoon. A report on dzRH radio said a long convoy slowed traffic at the old national highway as it made its way from Muntinlupa City to a memorial park in Cabuyao. Laguna Governor Emilio Ramon (E.R.) Ejercito III and San Pedro police head Superintendent Kirby Kraft were among the officials at the burial, the report said. The report also said family members asked media not to take photos or videos of the burial as they wanted it to be solemn. A separate report on dzBB said the convoy took two hours, with supporters joining family members in the funeral procession. Pempengco was finally buried at 4:30 p.m., the dzBB report said. Pempengco, 43, was fatally stabbed allegedly by the lone suspect, Angel Capili Jr. in San Pedro shortly before midnight of October 31. Capili surrendered to authorities in Cavite last Thursday and was charged with murder Friday. — ELR, GMA News
