Teacher arrested for alleged rape of student

Police have arrested a public school teacher accused of raping a 15-year-old student in Tanjay City in Negros Oriental. A report on Visayan Daily Star Saturday cited police records showing the suspect sexually assaulted the student. The report, which withheld the names of the complainant and the suspect, said the girl told police she and her boyfriend were at the teacher’s house last Nov. 1, as the suspect asked them to go there and help him with the household chores. Shortly before the alleged rape, the suspect was reportedly entertaining a co-teacher and having some alcoholic drinks at the time. But the girl said the suspect forced her and her boyfriend to have sex, and the boyfriend refused. The girl said the suspect then raped her in a grassy field about 30 meters from his house. She reported the matter to police, who arrested the teacher. The teacher is now detained at the Tanjay City police station. — ELR, GMA News
