Android MMDA traffic app 'test' version out

Months after issuing a traffic app for Apple devices like iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is offering a version of the app for devices running Google’s Android operating system.

But MMDA Traffic Discipline Office OIC Yves Gonzalez stressed the beta of the Android app is still a work in progress at this stage.

“(It is) still a work in progress but already has basic functionality,” he said in a Twitter post.

He indicated Android users who want to try out the beta app can download it at https://files.me.com/yvesgonzalez/9ueyga.

Some users noted the app would do “force closing every now and then.”

“Just tried now. Still a work in progress is an understatement. Force closing every now and then. If you need help, tell me. :-),” said Paulo Magbanua.

“(It is a) very early beta. I’m not the dev,” Gonzalez replied.

Only last October, the MMDA released an updated version of its traffic app for devices running Apple Inc.’s iOS.

The MMDA app for iPhones and iPads is a free 8.8-mb download and runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices running iOS 4 or later - and supports the integrated Tweet feature in iOS 5. — TJD, GMA News
