Phivolcs: Quakes jolt Baguio, Surigao


Quakes jolted Baguio City in Northern Luzon and Surigao City on Sunday night but there were no reports of damage or casualty. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake in Baguio City was recorded at 9:24 p.m., and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake measured magnitude 2.6, with the epicenter at 16 kilometers (km) southwest of Baguio City. It said the quake was felt in Baguio City at Intensity II. On the other hand, the quake in Surigao City was recorded at 11:04 p.m., measuring magnitude 3.8. Phivolcs said its epicenter was traced to 85 km northeast of Surigao City. The quake was felt at Intensity I in Surigao City, it added. Phivolcs said no damage or aftershock was expected from both quakes. - VVP, GMA News
