Enrile's 'grandson' robbed in Quezon City

UPDATED 4:00 p.m. - The police are tracking down a taxi driver and a companion who robbed in Quezon City a man who claimed to be a grandson of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile. According to a report of radio dzBB's Allan Gatus on Monday, Quezon City Police District Station 2 identified the victim Achilles Ponce Enrile, 32. However, the Media Relations Officer of Senator Enrile told GMA News Online that the victim was not the grandson of Senator Enrile but that of "General Benjamin Enrile." GMA News Online has yet to verify if the "General Enrile" being referred to by Senator Enrile's camp was the former Army spokesman. Investigators quoted Achilles as saying the incident occurred along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) near the annex of a mall. The initial investigation showed that Achilles boarded the taxi near Pioneer Street in Mandaluyong City. Achilles allegedly fell asleep during the trip but was awakened by the taxi driver, who at the time was already with an unidentified companion. At gunpoint, the two suspects allegedly told the victim to hand over his wallet, iPad tablet, mobile phone, and a wedding ring. - with Kim Tan, VVP, GMA News
