MMDA releases 'lite' version of Android traffic app

Not one, but two.   The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is now working on a second app for mobile devices running Google's Android OS.   MMDA Traffic Discipline Office OIC Yves Gonzalez said the newer version is for Android devices with lower memory.   "For those with Android devices that have low memory, try this alternate build of the MMDA Android app beta 11.8.11b," he explained via Twitter.   However, he did not specify how much memory the new beta app will use, or how functional it is at present.   Only last week, Gonzalez said the MMDA is offering a version of the app for devices running Google’s Android.   But he said the beta of the Android app is still a work in progress at this stage.   “(It is) still a work in progress but already has basic functionality," he said in a Twitter post.   He indicated Android users who want to try out the beta app can download it at https://files.me.com/yvesgonzalez/9ueyga.   Last October, the MMDA released an updated version of its traffic app for devices running Apple Inc.’s iOS.   The MMDA app for iPhones and iPads is a free 8.8-mb download and runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices running iOS 4 or later - and supports the integrated Tweet feature in iOS 5. — TJD, GMA News
