Hurting Texters face Tigers, try to win without Peek

Expect Talk 'N Text coach Chot Reyes to make some adjustments when the Tropang Texters face the Powerade Tigers in Wednesday's main game of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum. The defending All-Filipino champions, already playing minus the injured Jimmy Alapag plus Harvey Carey and Ranidel De Ocampo not yet 100 percent, will be without Ali Peek when they go up against a determined Powerade side at 7:30 p.m. after the 5:15 p.m. opening match between Petron and winless Shopinas.com. Reyes will be missing Peek's services after the Talk 'N Text big man was shot Monday night following his training session at the RFM gym in Mandaluyong City. Doctors at the Medical City declared Peek to be out of danger. Reyes said his Texters will once again be tested without Peek. "We expect Powerade to have its best and hardest effort and game. They will be very, very sharp against us." "We have to be at our best. I'm sure Powerade is going to come out firing," added Reyes. Powerade coach Bo Perasol said playing against Talk 'N Text will test the Tigers on how to bounce back after suffering a 117-78 thrashing from Barako Bull last Sunday. "How to bounce back would measure how matured we have become as a team. I believe we have picked the kind of players that will respond during these kinds of times," said Perasol. Petron, after an 86-80 win over Alaska, seeks its fifth win when it faces winless Shopinas.com (0-7) in the opener. — JVP, GMA News
