At least 16 injured, 25 structures damaged in Bukidnon quake


The number of people injured by the magnitude-5.2 quake that hit Bukidnon province Monday rose to 16 early on Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. In an update posted on its website on Wednesday, the NDRRMC said the number of injured rose to 16 although radio reports said the figure may have gone up to as high as 40. NDRRMC figures showed that 10 of the injured people were still confined at the Laviña and Abella Midway hospitals, while six were outpatients. On the other hand, a report of "Radyo Mo Nationwide" on Wednesday said the number of injured rose to 40. The NDRRMC said at least 23 houses were damaged along with two commercial establishments, the Roy Plaza and Uni Star Hardware. "Valencia City is still experiencing power blackout which started right after the earthquake," the report added. The NDRRMC said the quake struck at 5:42 p.m. Monday, and was felt for five seconds at:

  • Intensity III: Quezon and Malaybalay, Bukidnon
  • Intensity II: Cagayan de Oro City
  • Intensity I: Hibok-Hibok, Camiguin - VVP, GMA News
