Free diabetes screening for Pinoys in UAE on Nov. 14

On World Diabetes Day on November 14, Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can avail of free diabetes medical screening by physicians and specialists of a local medical care center. Khaleej Times reported that the check-ups will be conducted at the branch offices of the Prime Medical Centre from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The free tests include dental, body mass index (BMI), blood sugar, blood pressure, and the blood test Hb1Ac. World Diabetes Day aims to raise awareness around the world for preventing the illness and risk on one’s health in most cases. The Khaleej Times report cited figures from the World Health Organization (WHO) that more than 220 million people worldwide have diabetes. The number will likely more than double by 2030 without intervention. Almost 80 percent of diabetes deaths occur in low- to middle-income countries, the report added. - VVP, GMA News
