Genelyn's life is an open Facebook

In this age of Too Much Information, the Facebook account of Genelyn Magsaysay, mother of slain actor Ramgen "Ram" Revilla, tells a riveting story of heartbreak, mood swings, financial woes, grief and rage. It may even offer clues to investigators as they piece together the crime and the possible motives behind the gruesome killing.

Magsaysay's Facebook account, created in September last year, remains accessible to the public nearly two weeks after her son's death, offering a window into her relationship with Ramon Revilla Sr., including an apparent breakup, and her rift with his son Bong Revilla even before the murder that tore them further apart. Meanwhile, Genelyn's children Ramona and RJ, currently being linked to the crime as suspects, closed their Facebook accounts or made them inaccessible. Their siblings have used their Facebook presence as a medium for conveying moral support. (Update: Less than a day after this story was posted, Genelyn made her Facebook account private)

Genelyn Magsaysay's sister Genevieve shows her support as well:

Magsaysay's son-in-law Hiro Furuyama, the husband of her daughter Ragelyn Gail, created Facebook pages championing Ramona and RJ's innocence.

On July 17, Magsaysay hinted at getting back together with someone.

But between July 31 and August 1, Magsaysay posted a slew of music videos pertaining to heartbreak. She seems to imply having fallen out with someone who wants to leave her.

A further reading of her Facebook profile validates assumptions that the man in question is Ramon Revilla, Sr.

Posts describing her emotional state resurface when she lamented being "depressed" in a status dated September 8.

Three days later, Magsaysay posted an update mentioning the illegitimacy of her children with Ramon Revilla, Sr. The posts seem to insinuate her children are not getting as much "support" from their father as the "legitimate" children do.

Her posts made in late September reveal that she has been under medication, presumably due to the depression she mentioned in earlier posts.

Two weeks later, Magsaysay openly wished to be relieved of financial problems afflicting her family.

Some posts bear resentful messages referring to a person she left unnamed, but the words provide clues. In the following, her apparent rift with Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla is brought to the surface.

Four days before her son's murder on October 28, Genelyn Magsaysay wrote about feeling disturbed. However, she did not indicate what was causing her nervousness.

The following are Genelyn Magsaysay's three updates made on the night her son was killed.

Magsaysay's Facebook albums contain pictures of joyous moments of her family dating back to when the siblings were young children. In some captioned photos, she champions the love Revilla, Sr. showed their brood of nine. However, none of the happy photos appear to be recent.
