5 quakes recorded in Luzon in 3 hours


At least five predawn quakes were recorded in the northern and southern parts of Luzon within a span of three hours before dawn Thursday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quakes, measuring between magnitude 1.8 and 3.4, were recorded between 12:11 and 3:16 a.m. Thursday. It said the first quake measuring magnitude 2.6 was recorded at 12:11 a.m. in Polillo in Quezon province. Phivolcs said the first quake's epicenter was 28 km northeast of Polillo. A second quake measuring magnitude 3.0 was recorded at 12:29 a.m. in Batangas, with the epicenter at 28 km west of Nasugbu town. The third quake measuring magnitude 1.8 was recorded at 1:01 a.m. in Mindoro Occidental, with the epicenter at 12 km southwest of Looc in Lubang. A fourth quake measuring magnitude 3.4 was recorded at 1:58 a.m., with the epicenter at 32 km northeast of Pandan, Catanduanes in Bicol. The fifth quake measuring magnitude 2.4 was recorded at 3:16 a.m., with the epicenter at 4 km southeast of Bolinao, Pangasinan.
