Army set for down time to watch Pacquiao bout


Four of the many venues for the public viewing of the Pacquiao-Marquez bout on Sunday will be in the headquarters of the Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio. Pacquiao, recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army reserves “is an inspiration to our soldiers" newly installed Army chief Major General Emmanuel Bautista said. “This is the reason why I my post, unit commanders at the Army headquarters to provide free viewing of the fight," Bautista also said. “We will open the Philippine Army Gym on Sunday for this particular purpose, as well as the Philippine Army Officers Club House and the Grandstand. Likewise, battle-casualties confined at the Army General Hospital would also get to watch the fight for free as screens will also be set up at the hospital’s Multipurpose Hall," Army spokesman Major Harold M. Cabunoc revealed. Cabunoc said off-duty army personnel and those who are not on security patrols are expected to watch the fight. — ELR, GMA News
