Taiwan-based smartphone maker HTC's latest offerings, the Sensation XE and XL with Beats Audio reached the Philippine shores yesterday at a public launch at the Republiq Bar in Resorts World, Manila. HTC said it invested $300 million in Beats sound technology by Dr. Dre for its mobile phones, signifying its eagerness to get a slice of the local mobile music market. Music Advantage In an interview, HTC Philippines Country Manager Mark Dewey Sergio said that the two phones were designed specifically with audiophiles in mind. “Sensation XE and XL with Beats technology allow users to maximize [the use of sound files] with clearer base, cleaner treble, and cleaner sound," he said. “Our partnership with Beats Audio complements our commitment to bringing the ultimate experience that indulges the user’s senses, be it listening to music, watching a movie or playing a game," added Lennard Hoornik, President of HTC South Asia Pacific. “We believe that audio is a crucial part of any consumer’s mobile experience and will continually push the audio boundaries to encompass not only improved voice but music, movie and games," he elaborated. Beats Electronics LLC is a company producing high-end headphones. It was founded by noted musician and producer Dr. Dre, in collaboration with Jimmy Lovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records. Competition from established rivals When asked about competition from Apple and other established rivals, Sergio said that the company would have to leave that to Filipinos’ taste, but is confident with what HTC bringing to the table. “We believe that we have a place in Filipino consumers’ hearts. I’m confident that our devices can give a rich experience to our end users", Sergio said. Availability in Philippine shops Both handsets will be available through Smart Communications wireless centers and HTC authorized retailers.
