Metro Manila fans line up early to watch Pacquiao bout on screen


Filipino boxing fans queued early at gyms and commercial establishments Sunday to watch the bout of boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. In Manila, Filipino boxing fans lined up at the San Andres Gym to watch a free screening of the fight, radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported. The report said that while most of the fans started lining up at 7 a.m., some arrived before dawn to make sure they will get a seat. Vendors of bottled water said they expect good sales during the bout, the report added. Police secured the gymnasium while ambulances were on standby at the venue. At the Philippine Army headquarters in southern Metro Manila, meanwhile, three video walls were set up at the Fort Bonifacio gymnasium, dzBB reported. Facilities were also set up at the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital to let patients watch the fight. — LBG, GMA News
