Southern NCR cops placed on 'Christmas alert’

The police in southern Metro Manila have been placed on “Christmas alert" as more Filipinos are expected to do their Christmas shopping at this time of the year. Southern Police District (SPD) spokesperson Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson said additional police personnel will be deployed to markets, malls, and schools, radio dzBB’s Sam Nielsen reported Monday. The report quoted Tecson as saying the SPD expects the police to thwart the usual crimes noted during the season, including snatching and mugging. The police expect the incidence of petty crimes to go up at this time of year as Filipinos shop for gifts and prepare for the holidays. The areas covered by the SPD include Pasay, Makati, Parañaque and Taguig cities, and Pateros town. - VVP, GMA News
