Predawn fires hit QC, Pasig; P2M destroyed

At least P2 million in property was destroyed after fires of undetermined origin razed a trucking firm's compound in Pasig City and an area in Quezon City before dawn Monday, radio reports said. In Pasig City, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported a fire hit the Real Time Movers trucking company along Evangelista Street in Santolan village at 1:51 a.m. Some 30 families of employees in the compound were affected, the report said. However, there was no initial report of anyone hurt in the fire. At least five trucks were damaged in the fire even as arson investigators are looking into whether the fire started at the canteen or barracks. The fire spread to the nearby "Load 'Em Up" trucking company and damaged another five trucks. The fire was placed under control past 3 a.m., the report said. An initial investigation showed the affected trucks contained consumer products that sustained "water damage" in the fire. Meanwhile, in Quezon City, dzBB's Allan Gatus reported a fire razed an area along Luna Street in La Loma district. The fire reached the second alarm and was put out at 5:10 a.m. — RSJ, GMA News
