Pinoy hit-and-run victim in UAE urges culprit to surrender

A Filipino supermarket salesman who was injured in a hit-and-run incident in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) appealed over the weekend to the driver who hit him to surrender to authorities as soon as possible. Edgar Inovio, 41, suffered a broken skull after he was hit twice by a car as he was returning from work at around 1:00 a.m. on November 3, a report of Gulf News said. Inovio also scraped the right side of his face and broke a tooth. He said a car skidded onto the pavement and hit him from behind. When he saw the car coming towards him again, he thought that the driver would stop to help him but instead hit him again. "Please surrender yourself to the authorities and own up to what you did," Inovio said in the report. Inovio, the sole breadwinner in his family, said the doctors had asked him to rest for two weeks. He said he does not have money for his daily expenses and medication. Inovio reported the accident to police who have not yet been able to trace the car. - VVP, GMA News
