PHL, Pakistan to hold cultural exchanges from 2011-2015

The Philippines and Pakistan agreed to hold cultural exchanges from 2011 to 2015, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The DFA said the Philippines-Pakistan Executive Program on Cultural Exchanges (EP) for 2011-2015 was signed on November 4 at the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in Intramuros, Manila. The signed EP was earlier proposed by the Philippine government during the third Philippines-Pakistan Policy Consultations held in Islamabad on January 29. It replaced the last one which expired in 2009. "NCCA Chairperson Felipe M. de Leon, Jr. and Pakistani Ambassador to the Philippines Mohsin Razi signed the EP on behalf of their governments," the DFA said in a news release. Those present at the signing were officials from the DFA, NCCA, and the Pakistani Embassy. The agreement commits both parties to an exchange of:

  • cultural information materials
  • experts/specialists in art, archaeology or museology
  • invite performers to each other's festivals and/or national days
  • exhibit of photographs and crafts
  • exchange of experts on culture and arts who may conduct lectures on their respective fields The agreement identifies concrete areas of cultural cooperation and exchanges in the implementation of the Philippines-Pakistan Agreement on Cultural Cooperation, which was signed on August 15, 1961. - VVP, GMA News
