1 dead, 22 hurt in North Cotabato blast - police


A man was killed while 22 others were injured following a grenade explosion in a circus in North Cotabato on Monday night, the police of Carmen town said. Police identified the fatality as Joseph Tumeldin, who was said to be watching a game of cara y cruz when the incident happened at 9:45 p.m. Tumeldin was rushed to the Kabacan Medical Specialist Center in a nearby town, where he was declared dead shortly after arrival. Meanwhile, the police said most of those injured were children. The grenade reportedly hit the roof of a house nearby before it fell on the cara y cruz station. According to police, it was thrown by an unidentified man after losing in a gambling game. He is currently the subject of a manhunt operation.
