3rd-party tools to manage Google+ pages

In a bid to attract more business users, Google is allowing third-party tools to manage pages in its upcoming social network Google+. Google+ Pages product manager Sara McKinley said Google wants to give businesses more flexibility and power to run their pages. "We also recognize that some businesses use social media management companies to manage their presence across multiple social networks. So today we’re announcing that Google+ is enabling six companies to test Google+ functionality in their management tools -- Buddy Media, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, HootSuite, Involver, and Vitrue," she said in a blog post. She said these companies will let clients manage circles, publish to Google+, and monitor usage. Google is now working with these companies to "experiment and get feedback," she added. McKinley also said Google is encouraged over the number of pages that have been created and brands’ enthusiasm for interacting with customers on Google+. A separate article on tech site Mashable said Google's pilot program appears to have extensive functionality. "Hootsuite, which also announced it was a launch partner, specifically mentions that it supports sharing to different Circles, searching public Google+ posts, viewing recent user activity and managing Circle membership. The launch partners are also offering analytics for tracking the performance of an individual Google+ Page," it said. — TJD, GMA News
