Arroyo may forgo 2nd exit try

Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo may yet forgo her attempt to leave the country Thursday to seek medical treatment, her camp has hinted. Arroyo's spokesperson Elena Bautista-Horn said Arroyo was still fatigued and receiving dextrose as of Wednesday night, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. The former leader spent Wednesday night at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City, which is some 30 minutes away from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Horn said Arroyo's stress and blood pressure levels were still high, the dzBB report said. She added they would wait for the doctors' advice if the former president is fit to travel. But she said that as much as possible, the Arroyo camp will try to push through with the flight as Mrs. Arroyo has an "appointment" at the Mt. Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Thursday. The report said Bautista-Horn and another Arroyo spokesman, defeated senatorial candidate Raul Lambino, were among her visitors at the hospital Wednesday night. Arroyo attempted to leave the country last Tuesday night, hours after the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order against the Justice Department's watch-list order on her. But immigration agents at the NAIA, on orders of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, blocked Arroyo's attempt to leave. — LBG, GMA News
