Gmail app returns to Apple's store but...

After being pulled out shortly after its introduction earlier this month, Google's most recent Gmail app for iOS devices has returned to Apple's App Store. Product manager Matthey Izatt said they have addressed the bug that broke notifications and displayed an error message. "We’ve fixed the bug and notifications are now working, and the app is back in the App Store," Izatt said in a blog post. Izatt added they have also improved the handling of image HTML messages, which he said are now sized to fit to the screen and a user can pinch to zoom in. He also hinted they are working on requests for bigger features such as multiple account support to customizations like improved notifications and mobile specific signatures. "We’re just getting started with the Gmail app for iOS and will be iterating rapidly to bring you more features, including all the ones listed above plus many more," he said. The app aims to combine favorite features from the Gmail mobile web app and iOS into one app "so you can be more productive on the go." It said the app is designed to be fast, efficient and take full advantage of the touchscreen and notification capabilities of the device. No new functionality But a separate article on tech site Mashable said version 1.0.2 of the app does not add any new functionality. "Gmail for iOS still doesn’t support multiple accounts and still fails to host email on the user’s device. The search giant says those features are around the corner, though," it said. On the other hand, The Next Web said the notifications are slow. — LBG, GMA News
