Police eyeing PBA courtside reporter to shed light on Peek shooting

Police may invite a radio disc jockey and court-side reporter of the Philippine Basketball Association to shed light on the shooting of PBA player Albert Henry "Ali" Peek last November 7. Mandaluyong City police chief Senior Superintendent Armando Bulalin said Angelika Schmeing-Cruz was filming near the area where Peek was shot and may have captured an image of the gunman, radio dzBB reported. Peek is a forward/center for the Talk'N'Text team in the PBA. The report quoted Bulalin as saying Cruz, a.k.a. Angelicopter, was doing a shoot near the gymnasium in Mandaluyong City shortly before Peek was shot. Police are still tracking down the gunman who shot Peek, even as they suspect he may have had at least one accomplice. Bulalin said their witnesses revealed only one man approached Peek and shot him but when he fled toward Pioneer Street, he was joined by another person. Police earlier said robbery may have been the motive. Talk’N’Text Coach Vincent “Chot" Reyes, citing neurosurgeon Dr. Gap Legaspi, on Sunday said Peek need not undergo surgery since there is no injury to the cager’s artery. — KG, GMA News
