Davao del Norte floods affect 8,610 families


Flash floods caused by heavy rain since last week had affected some 8,610 families and caused P7.75 million in damage to property, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its Nov. 17 report, the NDRRMC said the floods from Nov. 9 to 14 affected Carmen and Braulio Dujali towns in Davao del Sur. The NDRRMC report added the affected areas include 14 villages in Carmen and three Braulio Dujali. At least 11 people were affected with upper respiratory tract infections while one suffered a puncture wound in Ising village in Carmen town, but no other details were immediately available. The sick and injured were brought to the Municipal Health Office for medical treatment, the NDRRMC said. On the other hand, the NDRRMC said the damage to property caused by the floods went up to P7.75 million, including P6.45 million in infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems and dikes in Carmen alone; and P1.3 million in damage to agriculture. — LBG, GMA News
