Microsoft develops translator bookmarklet

Look out, Google Translate. Microsoft is coming up with an alternative translation tool of its own. The Microsoft Translator tool can translate any Web page on the fly, and is available as a bookmarklet for the browser, tech site CNET reported. CNET said Microsoft Translator identifies the language used on a Web page and then re-displays the page with all text translated into one's chosen language. Users who want to try out the tool can go to the Microsoft Translator site and select their native language from a dropdown list. They can then drag-and-drop the "Translate" link in the page to the toolbar or the browser's bookmark list. With the bookmarklet, a website in a foreign language can be translated quickly by clicking the "Translate" link on the toolbar or bookmark. In a separate article, CNET noted that while Google Chrome has built-in Google Translate feature for translating Web pages, Microsoft's tool may work in other browsers. It said Microsoft's tool ran successfully in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. — TJD, GMA News
