PAGASA: Flash floods, landslides loom over parts of Mindanao

Flash floods and landslides loom over parts of Mindanao due to an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday. In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Mindanao and Palawan, while a wind convergence is affecting Eastern Luzon. "Eastern and Southern Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rain over Northeastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," it said. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added. Metro Manila may experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms and can expect temperatures between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius, PAGASA forecaster Jun Galang said on dzBB radio. PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. — LBG, GMA News
