PHL Embassy in Riyadh open Thursdays for voters' registration

To give Filipinos in Saudi Arabia a greater chance to register for the 2013 elections as Overseas Absentee Voters (OAV), the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh will be open on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The OAV registration at the embassy will also remain open to all Filipinos on regular weekdays from Saturday to Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In an announcement posted on its website, the embassy said the new arrangement will last until the end of the registration period in October 2012. The embassy reminded new OAV registrants to submit a copy of their passports or iqama as requirement for registration. Those seeking more information can call Attaché Maribeth Ferrer at telephone number 01-480-1918, the embassy said. "This will allow all Filipinos to take advantage of their free time from work to register as overseas absentee voters. Registering would allow all citizens of the Philippines abroad to vote for Senators and Party-List Representatives during the 2013 National Elections," it said. - VVP, GMA News
