Report: PNoy monitoring Arroyo developments while in Indonesia


President Benigno Aquino III kept close tabs Friday night on developments on his predecessor Gloria Macapagal Macapagal Arroyo after an arrest warrant was served against her. Government-run dzRB radio reported Aquino did not push through with his coffee with Philippine journalists covering his trip as he was monitoring the events in the country. The report said Aquino reminded officials in the Philippines to accord Arroyo the courtesy and respect due a former leader. Aquino is in Indonesia for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit. He is initially scheduled to arrive in Manila at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, the report said. Arroyo was placed under hospital arrest Friday evening after a Pasay City court issued a warrant for her arrest over charges of poll fraud. She spent her first night under hospital arrest Friday at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City. Police were expected to subject her to booking procedures but were coordinating with her camp to determine when they could do so. — LBG, GMA News
