Police team to book Arroyo arrives, but waits for docs' go-signal

A police team expects to take an hour in the booking of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who was arrested Friday evening on charges of poll fraud. The team arrived Saturday morning at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City, where Arroyo has been staying since Tuesday night. But the police team said it could not immediately start the booking process as Arroyo was still being examined by her doctors, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. Members of the team include police personnel from the Southern Police District (SPD), Metro Manila police and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). The report quoted Metro Manila CIDG head Senior Superintendent Joel Coronel as saying the team will start the process once Arroyo's doctors give the go-signal. Arroyo has been staying at the SLMC since Tuesday night after she was barred from leaving the country. She was placed under the custody of the SPD after police served the arrest warrant on her at 6:30 p.m. Friday. — LBG, GMA News
