Body changes due for iPad, iPhone, Macbook Pro in 2012

Changes to the body designs of Apple's popular iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro products may be due in 2012, an Apple enthusiast site reported over the weekend.

A report on iLounge cited a reliable source who said the third-generation iPad tablet will become "modestly thicker."

It said the 0.7mm thickness increase will accommodate the twin light bar system for its higher-resolution display.

The iLounge report said the next iPad is on track for a March timeframe release, and "could be publicly shown as early as January, depending on conditions."

On the other hand, iLounge said the next-generation iPhone will be on track for introduction in the summer of 2012.

It said the new iPhone will not look like the teardrop-shaped version that was widely rumored for release earlier this year.

"We’ve been told that the device will have a 4-inch display and will be 8 mm longer than before, with a metal casing (probably aluminum)," it said.

It said poor battery life may have doomed the prior prototype version, and that this one is being built with LTE-ready battery drain in mind.

As for the MacBook Pro, iLounge said the laptop may get its new design, "barring some huge and unexpected issue."

While iLounge did not give further details on the MacBook Pro's expected changes, it only said, "think thinner." — TJD, GMA News
