Pinoy firms join Korea trade fair


Three Philippine companies joined a two-day Korea 2011 Premium Trade Fair held in Seoul from November 16 to 17, the Philippine Embassy reported. The embassy said the three firms that joined the trade fair sponsored by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) were: EEI Power Corporation, Botikang Pinoy, and Chuan Lam Auto Supply. "The trade fair, which is being held for the first time, is a business matchmaking event aimed at maximizing the benefits of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA)," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. According to the Korea Chamber of Commerce Philippines website, the trade fair is a business-to-business matchmaking event. The industries covered by the trade fair were:

  • metal/mineral Visit of Korean president to PHL Meanwhile, Korean President Lee Myung-Bak is on a three-day visit to the Philippines. He arrived in the country on Sunday and will leave on Tuesday. On Monday, he and Philippine President held a bilateral meeting before witnessing the signing of five agreements on: 1. Grant Aid 2. Loans 3. Power plant 4. Multi-industry cluster project, and 5. Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project. Aquino and Lee will be attending the Korea-Philippines Business Forum-CEO Roundtable Meeting in Manila Hotel. The Philippine president will also be hosting a state dinner later in the day for Lee. Lee, during his visit to the country, would also offer a wreath at the statue of Philippine National Hero Jose Rizal at the Luneta Park, attend the Philippine-Republic of Korea Business Forum and a town hall meeting at the Ateneo de Manila University. - with a report from Amita Legaspi, VVP, GMA News
