Retired teacher dies in Iloilo fire

A 70-year-old retired teacher was killed in a fire that hit their house in Iloilo province before dawn Tuesday. The fatality was identified as Petronila Manzano of Bolalacao village in New Lucena town in Iloilo, radio dzBB's Iloilo affiliate reported. The other members of Manzano's household, including two siblings and an in-law,were not injured in the incident. The initial investigation showed that the fire started at the victim's two-story house at about 2:00 a.m. Arson investigators are verifying information the fire stemmed from a candle left unattended inside the house because there was no electricity when the incident happened. - VVP, GMA News
