Black shirt day for UP Masscom on 2nd year of Maguindanao massacre

The University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication will show solidarity with the International Day to End Impunity on Wednesday with a "black shirt day." Wednesday, November 23, marks the second anniversary of the Maguindanao massacre, where 57 people — 32 of them media workers — were brutally murdered. The crime is being blamed on the powerful Ampatuan clan, whose members are among those included either as accused or suspects in the case. In a news release posted on the UP website, the UP-CMC said it will hold activities starting at 1 p.m. to call for an end to impunity. At 1 p.m., there will be a tolling of the Carillon bells in memory of the massacre victims, followed by a program at the Dambana ng Malayang Pamamahayag (CMC Annex Lobby) from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Participants will then assemble at the CMC parking lot and march around the UP Academic Oval. A motorcade will then proceed from UP Diliman to the University of Santo Tomas in Manila from 3 to 4 p.m. Participants will then march from UST to Mendiola Bridge near Malacañang at 4 p.m. — KG/RSJ, GMA News
