Fil-Am reelected to US House district seat
A Filipino-American was reelected to a second term as delegate in the 21st House District in the United States this month, yhe Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. said. Delegate Ron Villanueva, 41, garnered 57 percent of the votes last November 9. “(To) the citizens of the 21st House District, I will continue to work hard on your behalf getting you results and providing you with the representation you deserve," Villanueva said in a message on his website. Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Cuisia Jr. said this decisive victory over his opponent is a “clear indication" of the trust and respect Villanueva’s constituents have for him. “The hard work he demonstrated and the results he has delivered in the last term led to this notable achievement. His re-election is a reaffirmation of his competence for the job and at the same time, a challenge to continue serving with the people’s interest at heart," Cuisia said. He added that in his last six months in office, he had been urging Filipino Americans to be more politically empowered and to register and exercise their right to vote. “I hope that the success of Delegate Villanueva will inspire many of our kababayan to be more engaged in public service," he said. - VVP, GMA News
