PAGASA: Weather may improve starting Thursday

Metro Manila residents may have to continue putting up with rain until Thursday at the earliest, state weather forecasters said before noon Tuesday. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecaster Raymond Ordinario said Wednesday's weather may be similar to Tuesday's. "Inaasahan natin hanggang bukas magiging ganito [ang] panahon natin (We expect the weather on Wednesday to be similar to today's conditions)," Ordinario said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the earliest the weather may improve may be on Thursday, although it may still be cloudy by then. Earlier Tuesday, PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said the rainy weather may last "one to two days" this week. She said the rain was due to the northeast monsoon prevailing over Luzon and the inter-tropical convergence zone affecting Mindanao. The northeast monsoon is expected to bring with it the cold winds associated with the Christmas season. — RSJ, GMA News
