Police: 1 dead, 3 hurt as landslide hits Catbalogan

(Updated 6:20 p.m.) An eight-year-old was killed while three others were reported hurt after a landslide hit Catbalogan City in Western Samar province Tuesday noon, a police report said. The report said the landslide occurred in Barangay Guinsorongan where two house were also damaged. The fatality was identified as Aldrin Abanica who was earlier reported missing. Abanica was recovered around 4:30 p.m. but died on the way to the Samar General Hospital. One of those injured was identified as village watchman Danilo Roque, 40. He is confined at the Samar General Hospital. The two other victims were not immediately identified. — RSJ, GMA News
