PAGASA: Floods, landslides threaten parts of Luzon

After a rainy Tuesday, residents in Metro Manila may have to brace for a warm day Wednesday, although rain may be expected in the afternoon and evening, state weather forecasters said. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also said flash floods and landslides threaten parts of Northern and Central Luzon. "We expect partly cloudy skies in Metro Manila today. We can hang our clothes to dry today, we expect this day to be warm," PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. She said the temperature range in Metro Manila for Wednesday may be between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius. PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the northeast monsoon is prevailing over Northern and Central Luzon. It said this may bring flash floods and landslides to the eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon. "Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rain over the eastern section which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it added. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added. PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. — LBG, GMA News
