PAGASA: 1 more cyclone might enter PHL next month

While they expect no more cyclone to enter or form inside Philippine territory in November, state weather forecasters expect at least one more cyclone to enter or form inside Philippine territory before 2011 ends. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said such a cyclone is likely to affect the Mindanao area. "We may no longer have any cyclone this November but we may have at least one in December, before the year ends," PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. The next cyclone that may form inside Philippine territory will be codenamed "Sendong." Earlier, PAGASA said it expects two cyclones to enter or form inside Philippine territory in November. "Pero kalimitan niyan pag may namumuong bagyo parang nagko-concentrate siya sa southern part, sa may Mindanao," Enriquez said, adding that cyclones cannot form in cold weather such as that which is affecting Luzon, where the northeast monsoon is prevailing. PAGASA's names for cyclones for the rest of the year include Sendong, Tisoy, Ursula, Viring, Weng, Yoyoy, and Zigzag. — LBG, GMA News
