Bacolod cop shot dead in ambush

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a policeman in an ambush near a school in Bacolod City early Thursday morning.

The victim, initially identified as PO3 Rolando Malate, died immediately due to a gunshot wound in the head, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

An initial investigation showed that as Malate passed near a school around 7 a.m., the men blocked his vehicle's path and shot him.

Police are now investigating the motive behind Malate's killing. — LBG, GMA News
