Actress Chin-Chin Gutierrez injured in predawn fire


Actress-environmentalist Chin-Chin Gutierrez was injured after a predawn fire hit her house in Loyola Heights in Quezon City Wednesday. Gutierrez suffered cuts in the nose and arm while breaking windows to get her ailing mother Cecilia and household helpers out of the house. Her mother, who is suffering from diabetes, was reported in stable condition. She was hooked to dextrose and oxygen units inside the house. Radio station dzRH reported that Gutierrez and her mother were rushed to the Medical City hospital for treatment. Arson investigators said the fire, which reached the third alarm, destroyed some P1 million in property, and damaged two of the actress' vehicles. Initial investigation showed that the fire started at 3:30 a.m. at the bedroom on the second floor of the actress' house at 115 Gonzales St., Loyola Heights, Marikina City. Firefighters placed the fire under control at 4:58 a.m. and prevented it from spreading. The house was located near the home of singer Jim Paredes, who is abroad.-GMANews.TV
