First solar-powered car unveiled

De La Salle University in Manila has succeeded in making a solar car prototype.
Aptly named Sinag, it is believed to be the first solar car built in the Philippines.
Sinag, built at a cost of P9 million, was designed to promote the use of alternative sources of energy.
Its makers are joining the World Solar Challenge 2007 in Australia on Oct 21 – 28, 2007.

I think the cost-effectiveness of solar panels on these vehicles lies not on their initial costs but on the savings you get. If these vehicle is recharged through the use of solar energy, you're basically providing them free recharges hence the expenses that you
incur over time is much less as opposed to charging through an outlet.
