Bahrain to deport Pinay ex-beauty queen for porn

A former beauty queen faces deportation from Bahrain for posing semi-naked in a video taken by his lover, a Filipino chef married to another Filipino woman working in the Gulf. Police arrested the beauty queen Thursday at a hotel where she works after the chef’s wife surrendered the pornographic video of his mistress that she found on his phone, the Gulf Daily News reported on Monday. Filming and distribution of pornographic videos in Bahrain is against the law. The former beauty queen, now in her late 20s, has been detained at the Asry Police Station where she awaits deportation. The mistress, crowned in a major beauty pageant, was initially detained for alleged prostitution, but the charge was changed to pornography. The beauty queen came to work in Bahrain in 2004 and has worked in two other hotels. The report said her friends had warned her repeatedly against carrying on an affair with a married man. Ramon Nerida, the Philippine Embassy’s consular attaché and officer in charge of its assistance to nationals section, said the police questioned the chef but did not charge him with any crime. "It is his mistress that is suffering the consequences of that video, which he has admitted to us here at the embassy he shot with his camera phone," GDN quoted Nerida. "It has already been ordered that she is to be deported and there is really nothing else we can do to reverse that order," Nerida said. "Authorities are arranging for her to be deported, but there is still no confirmed date." Nerida was able to visit the woman in the holding center at the police station and relayed the news that she had been found "guilty of a pornography charge" by authorities. She will not be formally prosecuted, but is being deported. "She is not being maltreated in any way, but it is understandable she is scared," Nerida told GDN. "She said she was shocked that this was happening to her and disappointed that the news about her actions and arrest have now spread within the community." - GMANews.TV
