Manila to appeal RP nurses' case with CGFNS

A government-private sector team has been formed to make an appeal to US-based Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) to relent on its requirement for nursing graduates who took the June 2006 board exams to retake parts of the test. Radio station dzBB reported Monday night that the task force was formed following a meeting between the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and nursing groups in Manila. PRC chairwoman Leonor Rosero will head the task force, which will leave for the United States on Feb. 26. Also at the meeting were representatives of the Board of Nursing, Philippine Nurses Association, and the Association of Deans and Colleges of Nursing. Rosero said the task force will meet with officials of CGFNS and "explain" the circumstances behind last year's controversial test. She also said the members of the task force will not have the government finance their trip. -GMANews.TV
