Cayetano calls Gonzales a ‘nuisance’ secretary

Senatorial candidate Alan Peter Cayetano called Raul Gonzalez a “nuisance" cabinet member, after the justice secretary allegedly insisted without basis, that the Taguig-Pateros lawmaker is an alien who could face ouster, once elected in the Senate. “If there’s a nuisance candidate in the name of Joselito Pepito, there’s also a nuisance secretary of justice. Nuisance, because there’s no legal basis for his statements," Cayetano said in an interview, Wednesday. Joselito Pepito “Peter" Cayetano filed his candidacy for senator at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on February 12. His certificate of candidacy stated that he is a marine engineer from Davao del Sur. Cayetano said Gonzalez is into "a political ploy to confuse the voters and stop the people from supporting my candidacy," He reiterated that he is a natural-born Filipino, has a Filipino birth certificate, had met citizenship requirements as a three-term member of Congress and had a Filipino father who was senator of the Philippine Republic. “I’m not even (born through) Caesarian section," he jested. Gonzalez on Tuesday said the Department of Justice has started investigation on the citizenship of Cayetano. The justice chief said that if elected, Cayetano could face disqualification cases before the Senate Electoral Tribunal. Cayetano alleged that “Palace operators" have messed up in their plot to steal votes from him through the candidacy of Joselito Pepito. He said he has gathered enough evidence to prove that Joselito Pepito is a nuisance candidate. He said Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) president Ilocos Norte Gov. Ferdinand “Bongbong" Marcos has already certified that Joselito Pepito was not a bonafide member of their party. Cayetano said Marcos also indicated that the KBL did not call for a meeting or a caucus to endorse his namesake’s senatorial candidacy. “No party affiliation, no caucus and no endorsement," he said. He said they have secured an affidavit from his neighbors and relatives that Joselito Cayetano’s nickname is “Jojo" and not “Peter." Cayetano said he is willing to be investigated by the Comelec. “Go ahead and investigate me, I will submit. All I ask is that (they) also investigate Joselito and the people behind him. (They) will be surprised to learn that the one supporting Joselito Cayetano is not KBL but KFG (kay first gentleman)," he said. He said the administration “need(s) to have five (more) fertilizer scams and one (more) Hello Garci (scandal) for each region in order to win."-GMANews.TV
