Finally, GO lets go of Kiko Pangilinan

It’s official: Reelectionist Sen. Francisco “Kiko" Pangilinan is out of the Genuine Opposition (GO). GMA Network Flash Report Special Edition on late Sunday night reported that campaign manager Jose Victor Ejercito has confirmed that the opposition coalition has decided to boot out Pangilinan as its “guest" candidate. Pangilinan’s removal from GO was reportedly announced during the opposition’s sortie in Laguna, the birth place of deposed president Joseph Estrada. Pangilinan’s no-show at the opposition's Plaza Miranda grand proclamation rally Saturday was cited as the last straw that expedited the coalition's decision to drop megastar Sharon Cuneta’s husband from the GO's slate. Pangilinan had said that being an adopted candidate of GO does not compel him to attend the coalition's campaign sorties. His statement irked some opposition candidates. They said Pangilinan, who chaired the controversial canvassing of the 2004 presidential balloting at the House of Representatives that eventually declared Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as winner of the presidential race, is not a team player. The Flash Report anchor said the network tried to get Cuneta’s husband side but he cannot be contacted. - GMANews.TV
